Resizing Property Photos, Firm Logos and Agent Photos

Before uploading your photos in the MLS System, it may be necessary for you resize the photo so it is within the proper file size limitations or has the proper dimensions.  You may have found ways to resize photos within your digital camera software already. Provided here is a quick and easy solution to resize your digital photos.

Windows XP Users

Microsoft provides a free download for Windows XP operating systems that allows for resizing pictures on the fly. (Click here if you're not sure what your operating system is)  Use the link below to download. Once installed, to resize a photo saved on your computer, locate the photo (in My Pictures for example). Right-click on the photo, and from the resulting menu, select "Resize Pictures".

At this point you will be given the option to resize the picture. Choose a preset size: Small, Medium, or Large. Small or Medium should be sufficient for uploading to the MLS.

You can also click the "Advanced" button to input your own custom dimensions, as well as choose a few other advanced options.

By default, unless you override it, a new resized copy of the picture will be saved in the same location with the same name and a description in parentheses (for example file name – 302981 (small), 302981 (medium), 302981 (large), 302981 (custom). The original picture will remain with its original size and dimensions.

Windows VISTA or Mac Users (or any other operating system)

Currently Microsoft only offers this resizing tool for Windows XP. If you use another Operating System such as VISTA or Apple's Mac OSX, there are several free web-based photo resizing tools out there. From these web sites, you can quickly upload your photo, choose a preset size, and the photo will be resized for free. Because these are third party sites, MarketLinx does not endorse any particular one. To find one simply type "image resizer" into a search engine such as Google.

Once you find one you like, you could add it as a "Link of Interest" on your My InnoVia Home Page, so you'll always have quick access to it from the MLS.  To learn how to add a "Link of Interest" Click Here.
